LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – If you need some gas, you may want to hold off until tonight to fill up.
Experts say heading into the weekend, prices are expected to be around $1.15 per litre in places just outside Metro Vancouver like Abbotsford and Mission.
“Tonight, we’re going to see a three-cent-a-litre decrease… from an average of $1.259 down to $1.229 [in] of Metro Vancouver,” says GasBuddy senior analyst Dan McTeague.
McTeague says prices are decreasing even further across the country.
“With the exception of Montreal, taxes on gasoline are much less. The other factor is that there is a lot of additional costs being added to refined gasoline for Vancouver and Lower Mainland wholesale prices — at least a difference of more than eight cents a litre.
“It suggests to me that there is, somewhere in the system, a supply problem that should be explained.”
He thinks prices will continue to go down steadily until Christmas.
