LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – Nobody expects any relief at the pump any time soon, but we’re trying our best to save you a few cents next time you fill up.
NEWS 1130 is launching a gas tracker to help you find out what prices are like in Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, and even south of the border.
This comes after we heard from drivers dealing with record high gas prices.
“Well it’s pretty disgusting,” says one woman of the prices. “I normally ride my bike but it’s being repaired right now and I’m taking transit. The only time I take my car is to see my mom in Tsawwassen.”
Most people say they won’t go completely out of their way for a deal, but will take a minor detour to save a few cents.
“If we’re going through that way, I’ll definitely [drive farther], even if it’s a few kilometres out — go to Langley on the other side of Fraser Highway, because it’s a lot cheaper there,” says one man.
“I usually check to see if there’s somewhere close to me, or closeish to me that I can go fill up, or put some gas in,” one woman tells NEWS 1130. “But I’m not going to go to the Fraser Valley or the U.S.”
Listen live at :59 past the hour, when we’ll tell you the prices for a litre of regular fuel in places like Vancouver, Langley, Abbotsford, and down in Blaine — as spotted by you.
Help us by tweeting us prices that you spot @1130gastracker. You can also post to our Facebook page or call our Listener Line at 604-877-6332.
