VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — As gas prices across the province drop to under a dollar per litre, the British Columbia Utilities Commission has launched a website to better track gas and diesel rates.

GasPricesBC, is expected to help make oil and gas companies more transparent about how prices are set by using publically available data.

The site is part of legislation tabled after a review last year found drivers in B.C. pay more for gas than anywhere else in Canada.

In November, the province said the Fuel Price Transparency Act will make companies publicly accountable for unexplained markups and cost increases, which it says cost British Columbians an extra $490 million each year.
